The book on Padmashri Somappa Machani by Subhartho Bhattacharya, is an illustrative journey into the life of Mr. Somappa - India's 1st Padmashri awardee. The 90+ stories in the book take us through his childhood and early days all the way till his last days and his last dream.

The illustrations in the book were made to give a fresh touch to the stories that are based in independent India. The colour palette chosen is modern and fun in order to make it a light read, yet not too quirky so as to stay with the seriousness of the stories.  

The illustration style is minimalistic yet detailed with an almost grungy effect to portray the obscurity of some events.
